About the Pleasanton Run for Education
In 2012, the Pleasanton Partnerships in Education Foundation (PPIE) held the first "Pleasanton Run for Education," and in just three years, the event has become Pleasanton's premier family-focused fitness fundraiser.
To date, the event has raised over $140,000 for Pleasanton schools. In 2014 alone, thanks to the generous support of our community, volunteers and participants, the event netted over $80,000.
The 3rd annual Pleasanton Run for Education takes place Sunday, April 12, 2015. All races begin and end at the Alameda County Fairgrounds and this year's event is shaping up to be better than ever.
We've re-designed the course and added new events. Participants can stroll, walk or run the 5K or 10K - or add them together for a 15K. These are all great training distances, whether you're ramping up for your first foot race or training for a marathon. The Kids' Challenge course offers two distances: 1/2K and 1K. The day winds up with an Awards Ceremony and Expo, featuring activities for kids and vendors from the surrounding community.
About Pleasanton Partnerships in Education Foundation
PPIE is a non-profit, 501(c)3 foundation that supports all schools in the Pleasanton Unified School District. Since 1987, PPIE has raised over $4 million dollars for our schools through corporate partner donations, special events, and community-based fundraising efforts. Funds raised by PPIE support and re-establish critical district-wide programs for students threatened in recent years by state budget cuts, and to fund projects enhancing educational excellence for all students.
In 2014, PPIE raised $674,937 for our district's schools, which was used to hire a Technology Instructional Coach for the entire district, reduce class sizes and provide Chromebooks at all elementary schools, and facilitate technology and student support initiatives at each middle- and high-school.
